London: A court in Southport UK has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of three young girls. The accused, Axel Rudakubana, will serve a minimum of 52 years in prison.
According to media reports from London, judge Goss stated that Rudakubana had planned the murders with the intent to kill as many children as possible.
Before sentencing, the defendant caused a disruption in the court, claiming he was unwell. His outburst led the judge to have him removed to a separate room.
Reports indicate that the 18 years old had confessed to 16 crimes on Monday, including the attack that took place on July 29. During the incident, he stormed into a dance class and stabbed several victims, killing three young girls and injuring eight others, including the class instructor.
The gruesome crime has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing relief at the court's decision.
