Most Americans Feel Healthy Only 19 Days a Month

Washington: A new survey has revealed that the average American feels fully healthy for just 19 days each month. Conducted by Talker Research and released on May 27, the study surveyed 2,000 U.S. adults and found that 72% reported living in moderate or poor health.

Only 28% said they feel completely healthy at any given time. One of the most common complaints was gut-related issues, with one-third identifying as having digestive problems. Around 30% said they frequently experience bloating, indigestion, or constipation, with Gen Z emerging as the most affected group.

The data also showed that 51% of respondents suffer from recurring health problems lasting at least six months. Fatigue topped the list, affecting people nearly 13 days a month, followed by mood swings, digestive discomfort, and frequent headaches.

These health challenges have a broad impact: 65% of working individuals said their well-being affects job performance, over 40% reported limited ability to exercise, and 15% said it interferes with enjoying time with family.

Nearly half of the respondents noted that digestive issues have even made them avoid intimacy. Katie Lucas, CMO of Doctor's Best—the study's sponsor—warned that people are unknowingly lowering their health standards.

She emphasized that poor gut health affects not just digestion but all aspects of daily life, from relationships to work. The survey underscores a growing need for Americans to address their long-term health and well-being proactively.
