Islamabad: Pakistan has announced an immediate ban on Indian-flagged vessels from docking at any of its ports, citing concerns over national security, economic interests, and maritime sovereignty.
According to a directive issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the decision has been taken in light of the prevailing regional situation. "In view of the current circumstances, and keeping in mind maritime sovereignty, economic interests, and national security, the following measures are to be implemented with immediate effect: Indian-flagged ships will not be permitted to dock at any Pakistani port. Similarly, Pakistani-flagged vessels will not be allowed to visit any Indian ports," the statement read.
This move comes in response to a similar measure recently taken by India. Earlier, India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), operating under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, issued a notification imposing a blanket ban on all imports from Pakistan.
