Students Establish Unique Museum at Jamia Usmania in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Students of Jamia Usmania, a religious seminary in Peshawar, have created a unique museum that showcases not only centuries-old handwritten Islamic manuscripts but also cultural, historical, and traditional artifacts of the Pashtun heritage. The collection includes items of warfare and ancient musical instruments that reflect the rich history of the Pashtun people.

According to the museum's director, the collection features handwritten books dating back 400 to 1,000 years. Alongside these invaluable manuscripts, the museum also exhibits historical and cultural items that highlight the traditions and heritage of the Pashtun community.

The director explained that the primary objective of the museum is to educate Pashtun youth about their history, culture, and the achievements of their forefathers. By preserving and showcasing these artifacts, the museum aims to inspire a sense of pride and connection to their heritage among the younger generation.

Despite being located in a religious seminary, the museum includes musical instruments that are integral to Pashtun culture, reflecting a holistic approach to preserving the region's traditions.

This initiative not only bridges the gap between religious education and cultural awareness but also serves as a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and culture of the Pashtun people.
