Homeopathy in India: Biggest Symposium Happened in 2025

Gandhinagar: India joins the global community in celebrating World Homoeopathy Day, honoring the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homoeopathy. This year, the spotlight is on Gandhinagar, Gujarat, where India is hosting its largest-ever Homoeopathic Symposium, setting new benchmarks for innovation, research, and collaboration in this time-tested system of medicine.

The Rise of Homoeopathy in India

Homoeopathy, the world’s second-largest medical system, has deep roots in India—serving over 100 million people with a gentle, affordable, and holistic approach to health. The system is based on the principle of “like cures like,” and has been trusted for over 200 years.

India’s homoeopathy infrastructure is among the strongest globally, with:

3.45 lakh registered doctors

277 hospitals

8,593 dispensaries

8,697 beds in wellness centers

277 educational institutions with 7,092 faculty members

384 pharmaceutical industries

1,117 published pharmacopoeial monographs

This robust ecosystem is powered by three core institutions:

National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) – Regulates education and practice under the Homoeopathy Act, 2020.

Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) – Leads scientific research through 35+ centres and OPDs.

Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H) – Ensures drug quality and standardization.

Symposium Highlights: Innovation and Collaboration

The 2025 Symposium, held at Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Center, is a landmark event organized jointly by CCRH, NCH, and NIH (National Institute of Homoeopathy). It features:

Scientific sessions with leading researchers, doctors, and technologists

Showcases of cutting-edge homoeopathic research

India’s biggest exhibition of homoeopathy products and services

Dialogues on integrating AI, digital health tools, and evidence-based research

The event reflects the government’s commitment to "Holistic Healthcare", a vision championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has emphasized the public’s growing trust in systems like homoeopathy.

> “There’s a mood to go toward stress-free life from a stressful life. Holistic Healthcare remains a very big attraction. Best of the doctors are moving toward homoeopathy.” — PM Narendra Modi

A Modernized Legal Framework

To enhance transparency and scientific standards, the Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973 was replaced by the National Commission for Homoeopathy Act, 2020. This transition, officially implemented on July 5, 2021, led to the creation of a forward-looking framework.

In 2023, the NCH Medical Research Regulation introduced new guidelines to ensure ethical, data-driven research in homoeopathy.

India Leading the Way

From regulatory reform to research excellence and industry expansion, India is positioning itself as a global leader in homoeopathy. The coordinated efforts of NCH, CCRH, and PCIM&H ensure that the system evolves with scientific rigor while staying rooted in tradition.

Conclusion

As the nation celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, World Homoeopathy Day 2025 is a timely reflection of India's journey in healthcare transformation. The vibrant symposium in Gujarat not only honors a legacy but also signals a bold vision for the future—where homoeopathy continues to offer safe, evidence-based, and accessible healing for all.
