Housefull 5 Surpasses Bhool Chuk Maaf, Deva With ₹87 Crore Worldwide

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar’s latest release, Housefull 5, is off to a flying start at the worldwide box office. Despite mixed reviews, the comedy-mystery has surpassed the lifetime earnings of recent hits Bhool Chuk Maaf and Deva within two days of release.

Released on June 6, Housefull 5 earned ₹40 crore worldwide on the opening day and saw an even stronger second day. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹24 crore on Day 1 and ₹31 crore on Day 2 in India.

Its India net total now stands at ₹55 crore, with a gross of ₹65 crore domestically and an additional ₹22 crore from overseas markets. In just two days, this brings its worldwide collection to ₹87 crore.

Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has earned ₹81.6 crore worldwide since its May 23 release. Shahid Kapoor’s Deva managed ₹58 crore worldwide during its run. Housefull 5 has already surpassed both films.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 is the fifth installment in Sajid Nadiadwala’s hit comedy franchise. The star-studded cast includes Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, and others.

Known for its unique plot with two different killers and endings, the film opened to mixed critical reception.

A review from the Hindustan Times noted: “The film starts on a funny note... but lacks the energy expected until Akshay walks in. His comic timing lifts the film, though not all characters match up.”

With substantial early numbers, Housefull 5 is poised to continue its successful box office run.
