Deir el-Balah: Israel has highten up its military offensive in northern Gaza, issuing fresh forced displacement orders and launching intensified ground operations, as residents waited through the night to flee at first light.
The escalation comes as Hamas continues to review a U.S.-brokered ceasefire proposal that includes a 60-day truce and a phased prisoner exchange aimed at securing the release of Israeli captives and easing hostilities.
The renewed assault on northern Gaza has led to further chaos and fear among civilians who are already displaced, hungry, and struggling to survive amid constant bombardment. With movement restricted after dark due to airstrikes and shelling, many families were seen fleeing their homes at sunrise, carrying what little they could as tanks and troops moved closer to densely populated zones.
While Hamas has yet to publicly respond to the ceasefire proposal, the timing of Israel’s intensified military pressure is being interpreted by many as a strategic move to force Hamas into accepting the terms. The deal, heavily pushed by Washington, is viewed by observers as one of the most detailed truce frameworks yet presented since the war began in October 2023.
