LONDON: British actor Kit Connor may soon reunite with director Alex Garland for a significant role in the live-action adaptation of Elden Ring, the globally acclaimed video game by FromSoftware.
According to Variety, Garland—fresh off their collaboration on A24’s Warfare—is eyeing Connor for a lead role, though no official casting has been confirmed yet.
Garland, recently announced as writer and director, will helm the dark fantasy project produced by A24 in collaboration with Bandai Namco.
The film’s storyline draws from the mythos co-created by George R. R. Martin, best known for A Song of Ice and Fire, the inspiration behind HBO’s Game of Thrones. Producers include Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Vince Gerardis, and Martin.
Released in 2022, Elden Ring became a global sensation, shipping over 30 million units and winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards. With upcoming titles like Elden Ring: Nightreign and Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, the franchise continues to expand rapidly.
Kit Connor, who gained global recognition as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper, recently starred in Warfare, co-directed by Garland and Ray Mendoza. In a previous interview, Connor called working with Garland “creatively fulfilling,” noting that the director “brings out your best.”
While fans await official confirmation, online buzz already praises Connor as a “perfect fit” for the game’s moody and mysterious world. With Garland at the helm and casting news imminent, the Elden Ring film is quickly shaping into one of Hollywood’s most anticipated game adaptations.
