Pakistan to Boost Regional Peace Efforts: Asim Munir

Washington: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting regional stability and a cooperative security framework during a high-level engagement with senior scholars, analysts, policy experts, and representatives of the international media in Washington.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir is currently on an official visit to the United States. During this visit, he has held discussions with representatives of American think tanks and strategic affairs institutions, providing a platform to enhance understanding of Pakistan’s strategic vision.

ISPR stated that the Army Chief gave a detailed briefing on Pakistan's counter-terrorism operations, including Operation Baniyan Marsous and Ma'arikah-e-Haq, underscoring Pakistan’s constructive role in ensuring regional peace and stability.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s untapped potential in key sectors such as information technology, agriculture, and mineral resources, inviting international partners to explore opportunities for collaboration. The discussions also reviewed the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and the United States.

Field Marshal Munir further stated that “certain regional actors are using terrorism as a tool of hybrid warfare. Pakistan has remained at the forefront of the global fight against terrorism and has made immense human and economic sacrifices for a safer world.”

The Army Chief’s visit and engagements are seen as part of Islamabad’s broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic and strategic ties with Washington, while reiterating Pakistan’s enduring commitment to global peace and security.
