Islamabad: On the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is arriving in Islamabad today for a two-day official visit.
President Erdoğan will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and corporate leaders. Upon arrival, he will be given a warm welcome.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdoğan will jointly chair the 7th meeting of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) as reported earlier this year by Human Online.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a joint declaration will be issued, and several important agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed. Both leaders will also address a joint press conference.
President Erdoğan is scheduled to hold separate meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.
Additionally, he will address the Pakistan-Turkey Business and Investment Forum alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This forum will bring together key investors, companies, and business leaders from both countries to explore economic collaboration opportunities.
The HLSCC is the highest decision-making body between the two nations, providing strategic direction for strengthening bilateral ties. Several joint standing committees operate under the HLSCC, covering sectors such as trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defense, agriculture, transport, communications, IT, health, science & technology, and education.
So far, six HLSCC meetings have been held, with the last one taking place in Islamabad on February 13-14, 2020.
Pakistan and Turkey share historic fraternal ties, and President Erdoğan’s visit, along with the 7th HLSCC meeting, is expected to further deepen bilateral relations and enhance multidimensional cooperation between the two nations.
