Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to expel Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat from the party, with an official announcement expected soon.
According to sources, the PTI founder Imran Khan has directed the party leadership to take decisive action against Sher Afzal Marwat. A notification terminating his basic party membership will soon be issued, and he will also be asked to resign as an MNA.
The decision follows complaints from party leaders regarding Marwat’s conduct at PTI’s Swabi rally.
Last month, he was issued a show-cause notice on the directives of Imran Khan. The notice accused Marwat of making reckless statements that harmed the party. It stated that Imran Khan had been informed of his remarks, leading to the issuance of the show-cause notice, which urged him to improve his behavior.
Than, Sher Afzal Marwat was given seven days to submit a written response, with a warning that failure to comply would result in action under party policy. Following the notice, Marwat decided to stay away from electronic media for a couple of weeks on the advice of friends.
He had also requested media personnel on social media platform ‘X’ not to insist on his participation in TV programs.
This was not the first time Marwat has faced disciplinary action. In May 2024, he was also issued a show-cause notice for making irresponsible statements against PTI leaders Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub.
