Qumra 2025: Nurturing 18 Promising Qatari Film Projects

Qatar: Doha Film Institute has announced an exciting lineup of 18 projects by Qatari and Qatar-based filmmakers for the 11th edition of Qumra, underscoring the vibrant growth of the local film ecosystem. 

This initiative, announced on March 24, 2025, highlights innovative narratives spanning features, shorts, and series in various stages of development and production. The event, set to take place in Doha from April 4 to 9 with an online segment from April 12 to 14, will serve as a crucial platform for emerging talent.

Qumra 2025, a renowned talent incubator for both Arab and international cinema, will feature 49 projects from 23 countries, with nine projects coming from Qatari nationals. The lineup also includes unique TV or web series concepts, short narratives, and documentary essays that reflect the creative strength of Qatar’s filmmakers.

This annual event offers more than just a showcase; it provides intensive mentorship, skills development, and network-building opportunities. With over 200 industry experts advising on storytelling, directing, editing, cinematography, and sound, Qumra is poised to elevate the quality and impact of local cinema.
