Late Monday night into Tuesday morning, or on Tuesday, Palestinian sources said that Israeli airstrikes targeted the Gaza Strip and killed at least 34 Palestinians. While Israeli tanks also entered central and southern areas of Gaza.
In northern Gaza, an airstrike demolished a multi-story structure in Beit Hanoun; it killed at least 25 and many were injured. According to the social media reports most of the people that were butchered are from one family and included women and children. Some pictures shared on the internet depict the victims being dumped in a single hole and as much as the picturesierce reality, they have not been corroborated by other news outlets.
Another airstrike hit a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza area, leaving at least seven dead and others wounded. Another attack fifteen kilometers further south in Rafah killed two more people.
Furthermore, off the coast of Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip, six Palestinian fishermen were arrested by the Israeli navy when they attempted to go out to sea on Tuesday morning.
But further things lead to. Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that really stirred things up on October 7th 2023 by attacking Israeli forces. They shot dead approximately one thousand two hundred and kidnapped over two hundred and fifty hostages to Gaza. Since then, Israel has been fairly ruthless in Gaza and regrettably more than 44,700 Palestinians have died in this ongoing military operation, which now spans 14 months.
But now everyone has been putting effort to try to end the war. Egypt and Qatar, with assistance from the USA, have been working to have both sides agree to a ceasefire but this has not been easy. But now it looks a little brighter, gets someone the impression that the war is going to be over soon.
The other night Benjamin Netanyahu said that since Bashar al-Assad is down and Hamas feels like kind of lonely there might be a new chance to sit down and get those hostages back. At the same time, however, he was careful to point out that one cannot be sure yet whether things will turn out that way.
On Tuesday, a Hamas official suggested that the mediators have been acting hotter lately because Hamas is now willing to make the necessary moves that will cease the attacks on their people. And this, Hamas also requested other groups in Gaza to enumerate all the hostages they hold, living or dead, seeing a sign they might really seek negotiations.
Now, it seems, Hamas is searching for the ceasefire and the freedom of all the hostages, Israeli and foreign, along with those Palestinians who are detained by Israel. But Netanyahu is strong-headed—no deal unless Hamas is out of it wholly. It really is a delicate situation, and no one really knows what the correct course of action is anymore.
