Ron Killings Attacks John Cena Again, Match Set for WWE SmackDown

Stamford: In a dramatic shift from comic relief to serious contender, Ron Killings—formerly known as R-Truth—has officially stepped into the spotlight by launching a fierce attack on Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena.

The ambush occurred on “WWE SmackDown” shortly after Cena delivered a show-opening promo. Killings, who has dubbed Cena his “former childhood hero,” blindsided the champion on stage, setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Later, as Cena awaited a confrontation in the ring, CM Punk interrupted with a heated promo exchange referencing their long-standing feud dating back to 2011.

But after Punk left the ring, Killings struck again—this time locking Cena in his own STF submission hold until WWE officials and security intervened.

Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis confronted Killings over the repeated attacks. Killings demanded a match, which Aldis officially granted for next week’s SmackDown.

This stems from Killings’ return at Money in the Bank, where he aided Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso against Cena and Logan Paul. Just days later, on WWE Raw, Killings reintroduced himself with a more serious persona, thanking fans for their support after WWE previously informed him his contract would not be renewed.

Now fully committed to a darker and more driven character, Killings will finally face Cena in a sanctioned match that promises high stakes and even higher emotions.
