Saudi Arabia Launches 357 Humanitarian Projects to Strengthen Refugee Resilience

Jeddah: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its global humanitarian commitment by supporting refugee issues through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), which has carried out 3,438 projects in 107 countries at a total cost exceeding $7.93 billion.

Among these, 357 projects valued at nearly $497 million specifically target refugee support across Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Myanmar, Palestine, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The initiatives span critical sectors such as food security, health, shelter, education, and protection.

Saudi Arabia currently hosts refugees from Syria, Yemen, and Myanmar, who make up approximately 5.5% of the Kingdom’s population. The government ensures access to free education, healthcare, and employment opportunities as part of a rights-based integration policy.

These efforts come in response to the growing global refugee crisis, with more than half of the world’s refugees originating from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. Additionally, 76% of displaced persons are hosted in low- and middle-income countries, amplifying the strain on humanitarian resources.
