Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has cautioned against setting unnecessary expectations from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Speaking to the media at Adyala Jail, Qureshi stated that his release would depend on the strength of his legal stance and the pursuit of his cases.
Regarding PTI founder Imran Khan’s letter to the Army Chief, Qureshi said he had heard about it but had not seen it personally. He mentioned that the letter contains reasons and suggestions that should be viewed positively.
Criticizing the ruling parties, Qureshi accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of jointly damaging democracy. He alleged that amendments to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) were aimed at suppressing freedom of expression in the country.
He further remarked that Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto would be remembered for distorting the Constitution.
