Taipei: Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te has raised concerns over China’s escalating efforts to infiltrate and influence the island’s society.
Speaking after a high-level security meeting on Thursday, Lai stated that Beijing has been deepening its campaign to sway Taiwan through various means.
According to the president, China has leveraged Taiwan’s democratic system to extend its reach, targeting different sectors, including organized crime groups, media figures, and former military and police personnel.
In response, Lai's administration plans to introduce new measures aimed at countering Beijing’s influence and safeguarding Taiwan’s democratic integrity.
