Islamabad: Senior leader of Pakistan’s ruling party, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that winning the Nobel Peace Prize is not essential to be recognized as a global champion of peace. He warned that continued support for "usurping Zionist forces" would lead history to judge Trump and his allies alongside infamous figures such as Genghis Khan and Hitler.
Rafiq made these remarks on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), urging Trump to abandon double standards in matters of justice. “If President Trump wants the United States to be seen as a truly great nation, he must stand with the oppressed instead of siding with aggressors,” Rafique stated.
The former federal minister emphasized that American leadership must rise above religion, race, and regional biases to oppose all forms of aggression and terrorism. “God has given President Trump a second chance,” Rafiq said, adding, “Whether he chooses to act as a usurper or a statesman is now entirely in his own hands.”
This statement comes in the wake of the Government of Pakistan’s recent recommendation to nominate Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The nomination cites Trump’s diplomatic efforts in de-escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, crediting his engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi for averting the risk of war.
