Trump Discusses Serious Nuclear Talks with Iran

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that “very serious meetings” have taken place amid ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Speaking to the press on Thursday alongside the Norwegian Prime Minister, President Trump remarked, “We are doing very well regarding Iran,” indicating optimism in the direction of the talks.

Reiterating his stance, Trump emphasized that there are “only two options” when it comes to Iran’s nuclear issue, adding that one of them is not a good choice at all. “We can make a very good decision [following an agreement with Iran] and save the lives of many people,” he said.

These comments come as both nations prepare for the third round of negotiations, set to continue on Saturday in Muscat, the capital of Oman. U.S. special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Whitkoff, is expected to meet with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Earlier in the week, on Monday, President Trump had also mentioned that the talks with Iran were “going well.”

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking at the same Thursday press event, praised Trump’s efforts to prevent war, saying, “Among all world leaders, no one has done more than President Trump to try to prevent conflict.”

He added, “This is why we’re in talks with Iran now, and also holding discussions with Russia and Ukraine.”

President Trump had previously withdrawn the United States from a signed nuclear agreement with Iran seven years ago and reimposed sanctions related to the country’s nuclear activities.

He warned that unless a new deal is reached to prevent Iran from gaining access to nuclear weapons, military action against the country remains on the table.
