Syria’s Humanitarian Crisis Remains Severe Despite Improvements, UN Warns
UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Highlights Ongoing Challenges

Speaking to the UN Security Council on Wednesday, Fletcher noted that while security has remained stable since the ousting of long-time dictator Bashar Assad in early December, much more support is still required.
Food Insecurity Continues to Plague Syrians
Fletcher revealed that nearly 13 million Syrians remain acutely food insecure. While millions have resumed receiving aid, he stressed the need for continued international assistance to address the widespread deprivation.
International Diplomatic Efforts Continue
Foreign ministers from the US, UK, France, Italy, and Germany are scheduled to meet in Rome Thursday night. The talks, hosted by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, will focus on the Middle East, including Syria. A representative from the German Foreign Ministry will attend the meeting on behalf of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
