As authorities warn of potential future eruptions, Mount Kanlaon, one of the Philippines' most active volcanoes, has erupted, forcing widespread evacuations in the surrounding areas. On its volcanic activity scale, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology increased the alert level to 4 out of 5, indicating a "hazardous eruption" that poses serious hazards to local communities.
