Mumbai: Actor Sudhanshu Pandey has slammed most popular reality shows, calling them “ridiculous in nature,” while explaining why he broke his long-standing rule of never doing one.
Sudhanshu revealed that The Traitors, which premiered on June 12, is his first reality show. Known for maintaining his dignity and self-respect, he said he’d never considered reality TV due to the drama and absurdity often involved.
However, when the BBC approached him with the offer for The Traitors, he initially declined unless it differed from typical reality fare. After a detailed discussion with the producers and watching the original version, Sudhanshu was convinced by the show’s intelligent, mind-game-based format.
He called it “cool” and said it mentally challenged him, so he agreed. He confirmed he had been approached by shows like Bigg Boss multiple times, but always refused. Although subtle in the first few episodes, he teased that audiences will see more of his true personality as the show continues.
Filmed at a palace hotel in Rajasthan, The Traitors has changed his view on such formats. “Never say never,” Sudhanshu concluded, adding that he’s open to more shows if they maintain similar quality.
