Karachi: Faysal Quraishi has responded to actress Nadia Afgan’s recent criticism of his English pronunciation in the ongoing drama Behroopia, where he plays Kabir, a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder. During an appearance on Kya Drama Hai, Nadia questioned Faysal’s use of the word “gotcha,” claiming it was incorrect and should be “got you” instead.
In a video alongside director Shaquille Khan, Faysal addressed the remark, explaining that Kabir’s character is influenced by a foreign friend, which affects his speech patterns. “In the US, some people say ‘gotcha’—it’s intentional,” he said.
Shaquille supported the explanation, stating the dialogue was crafted to match Kabir’s personality and background. The online community rallied behind Faysal, calling Nadia’s critique unnecessary and misinformed.
Social media users defended his performance, saying the criticism lacked understanding of the character’s depth. While Nadia Afgan has yet to respond, Faysal’s role in Behroopia continues to earn praise and heightened attention.
