Rawalpindi: A heated altercation broke out between senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry and Barrister Shoaib Shaheen, outside Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
According to sources, the scuffle occurred near Gate No. 5 of Adiala Jail, where Fawad Chaudhry reportedly slapped Shoaib Shaheen, causing him to fall to the ground. The jail staff present at the scene intervened and separated the two leaders. Following the altercation, Fawad Chaudhry proceeded inside the jail, while Shoaib Shaheen, who sustained an arm injury from the fall, received medical attention.
This incident adds to a series of controversies involving Fawad Chaudhry. On January 5, 2020, he made headlines for slapping renowned TV anchor Mubasher Lucman during a wedding event. Prior to that, in June 2019, Fawad Chaudhry had also assaulted senior journalist Sami Ibrahim during another wedding ceremony in Faisalabad, an incident that led to a police complaint against him.
The altercation with Sami Ibrahim sparked widespread criticism from media organizations and political figures. At the time, Fawad Chaudhry downplayed the incident, stating that it should be viewed as a personal dispute rather than a clash between institutions.
This latest episode once again highlights internal tensions within PTI and raises concerns about the conduct of senior political figures in public settings.
