UN Warns of Al-Qaeda Attempts to Establish Cells in Bangladesh

Myanmar Labels 4,241 Rohingyas Living in Bangladesh Camps as ‘Terrorists’

Myanmar said on Saturday that it had verified 426,545 of the 828,824 refugees on a list provided by Bangladesh as of the end of July. It determined that 308,797 of those verified were former residents of Rakhine. The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it could not verify 113,507 people, while 4,241 were found to have been involved in what it called ‘terrorist activities.’

As many as 340 irregular Bangladeshi migrants returned home on Friday from Libya, most of whom had entered the country intending to travel illegally to Europe by sea. They were brought back from the Libyan capital Tripoli by Fly Oya International flights, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Over 15,700 Killed in Accidents Involving Motorcycles Since 2020 in Bangladesh

A total of 16,065 motorcycle crashes took place in Bangladesh between 2020 and July 2026, killing 15,712 people and injuring 14,143, according to a report by the Road Safety Foundation published today (8 August). Of the crashes, 3,548 (22.08%) were head-on collisions, while 5,497 (34.21%) occurred after motorcyclists lost control of their vehicle.

India Bars Employment of Personnel from Land Border Countries in Renewable Energy Projects within 1Km of Border

The Indian Home Ministry has issued a slew of new guidelines prohibiting any new solar, wind and hybrid renewable energy projects within 1 km of the border and barring the employment of engineers, staff, employees and labour from land border countries, especially Pakistan, Bangladesh and China, for project implementation without the permission of the government.
