Afghan Officials Call for National Unity at Kabul Ceremony

Kabul: During a ceremony marking the "Nights of Qadr" in Kabul, Noor-Ul-Haq Anwar, President of the Administrative Office, underscored the importance of unity among Afghanistan’s diverse ethnic and sectarian communities.

Anwar emphasized that, as per the decree of the leader of the Islamic Emirate, all citizens are entitled to equal treatment under the current government, which upholds an independent policy. He reiterated that a general amnesty has been granted to former opponents of the Islamic Emirate, ensuring that no one has the right to seek revenge.

“The Islamic Emirate prioritizes the future over the past,” Anwar stated. “The general amnesty includes all those who opposed the Islamic Emirate over the past two decades. Seeking revenge is not permitted.”

Bamyan Governor Abdullah Sarhadi echoed these sentiments, warning against the dangers of ethnic, linguistic, and religious divisions. He stressed that such divisions had previously caused suffering in Afghanistan and that it is the government’s duty to prevent their recurrence.

“We must learn from the past to ensure that ethnic, linguistic, and religious divisions do not return,” Sarhadi remarked.

Meanwhile, Madar Ali Karimi Bamyani, Deputy Minister of Urban Development and Housing and the event’s organizer, affirmed that the Hazara community and Afghanistan’s Shia population have rejected violence and now stand in support of the current administration.

“The Hazara people of Afghanistan have moved beyond violence and hatred,” Bamyani said. “Our longstanding brotherhood with other ethnic groups remains unchanged.”

The event concluded with speakers condemning the ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza and calling for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be held accountable in international courts.
