Afghan Post and Passport Department Sign Agreement for Home Delivery of Passports

Kabul: The General Directorate of Passports and Afghan Post have signed a memorandum of understanding to streamline the passport issuance process, allowing citizens to receive their passports at home for a fee of 100 Afghanis.

Abdul Karim Hasib, the Director General of Passports, emphasized the significance of this agreement, calling it a major step toward improving public services. He highlighted ongoing efforts to further simplify passport issuance.

"Today, we have reached a point where we can collaborate with Afghan Post to deliver passports directly to applicants' homes for a small fee," Hasib stated.

Rahmatullah Maki, the Director General of Afghan Post, described the initiative as a way to ease the process for citizens. He explained that after completing the biometric process, applicants will have their passports delivered promptly. If the document is ready the same day, it will be dispatched immediately; otherwise, it will be delivered as soon as it is printed.

Several Kabul residents have welcomed this initiative, recognizing it as a solution to long waiting times for passport collection.

According to officials, the service was launched in Kabul on Wednesday, February 26. It is set to expand to Herat, Kandahar, Balkh, and Jalalabad next year.
