Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has expressed serious concern over the Kumbh Mela stampede in Uttar Pradesh, alleging that the state government is covering up the actual death toll. Yadav alleged that the authorities are underestimating the number of victims, while the families of the victims continue to seek justice. Several people lost their lives and were injured in the accident that took place during the Kumbh Mela festival, leading to unrest across the state.
Yadav demanded an immediate investigation into the incident and demanded that those who covered it up be held accountable. Opposition leaders said the government should be more open about the deaths and provide adequate compensation to the families of the victims. He also criticised the state government for not taking adequate measures to prevent such incidents during large gatherings of millions of people.
