Quetta: Unidentified armed men blocked the Quetta-Karachi Highway in the Mangochar area of Kalat district and set multiple government buildings on fire.
According to reports, the armed group erected barricades on the national highway, stopping several vehicles, including passenger buses and private cars, and conducted searches. The blockade brought all traffic to a standstill on the route.
The attackers later entered Mangochar Bazaar, where they seized and set fire to several government buildings, including the offices of NADRA, the Judicial Complex, and the National Bank of Pakistan. The fires caused significant damage to the structures.
The armed men fled the scene before security forces arrived. Authorities confirmed that an operation had been launched in the area and traffic on the highway was restored late at night.
In a separate incident near Kot Lango, gunmen on motorcycles attacked a Levies checkpoint, resulting in the death of a Levies official identified as Haq Nawaz Lango.
Levies officials also reported a powerful explosion beneath a bridge on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway near the Rahimabad area of Kalat district. The blast caused minor damage to part of the bridge, but no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, in Khadkocha area of Mastung, gunfire on a passenger coach injured six people, including a woman and two children.
Assistant Commissioner of Mastung, Akram Harifal, confirmed that the injured were shifted to Ghaus Bakhsh Memorial Hospital for treatment.
