Aurangzeb Represents Pakistan at US IMF and World Bank Conference

WASHINGTON: Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb took off for Washington on Saturday to represent Pakistan at the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group from April 21, 2025, to April 26, 2025.

Aurangzeb is expected to engage in high-level discussions with IMF and World Bank officials to consolidate financial cooperation and provide economic support to Pakistan during ongoing fiscal reforms. These meetings are coming as an aftermath to the IMF staff-level agreement to provide Pakistan with $1.3 billion, which has become paramount for economic relief.

The minister is also expected to hold bilateral consultations with finance ministers and leaders from China, the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye to consolidate strategic partnerships and investment avenues. 

The minister will meet with credit rating agencies and global investment banks to showcase Pakistan's economic roadmap and ongoing reform activities and investment opportunities. He is also expected to address investment forums and global development seminars and provide the audience with Pakistan's fiscal outlook and policy priorities. 

In addition, he will be part of the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action and will speak at a special session organized by the Center for Global Development (CGD) aimed at assessing the journey of reforms in Pakistan with an outlook to the challenges ahead.

This visit holds paramount importance to enhance Pakistan's global economic engagement, confidence by investors, while providing continuing financial assistance during this crucial stage of recovery.
