On a calm morning by the Ganga River in Kolkata, two women were seen trying to throw away a body wrapped in bloody clothes inside a suitcase. This unusual event happened when some locals doing their usual yoga at Kumartuli ghats noticed the strange actions of these women. At first, they saw them having trouble pulling a purple suitcase toward the river, which made them suspicious. When asked questions by locals, the women's answers were unclear, leading to police getting involved who soon found out what was really happening. This occurrence took place near 7:30 AM on an ordinary morning at Kumartuli ghats known for Durga Puja setups. The previously quiet location turned shocking as local people grew suspicious and called authorities. Kumartuli ghats is where this unsettling scene occurred next to the Ganga River. Normally peaceful, it became an area of horror that startled both citizens and law enforcement.
The women caught up in this drama are Falguni Ghosh and her mother Aarati Ghosh. The body inside the suitcase belonged to Sumita Ghosh, who was Falguni's aunt-in-law. After arriving quickly on scene, police took both women into custody after they confessed their wrongdoing. Initial checks showed that these women had hidden Sumita’s body following what they claimed was suicide but how they disposed of it raised many worries. Locals highlighted how strange it seemed for anyone to dispose of a body like that unless there were reasons otherwise since if truly suicide it wouldn’t warrant such disposal methods.
Additionally, their excuses about thoughtless stuff like saying dog’s corpse could relate only made no sense because of suitcase weight issues. Police looked into how these ladies carried Sumita’s body all way from Madhyamgram to Kumartuli within that heavy suitcase while lots neighbors noted odd guests visiting often around their home too adding onto ongoing tension regarding crime recently concerning Kolkata related with other dreadful happenings including tragic triple murder case noted earlier happened Tangra area.
