Chelsea Thrashes Southampton 4-0 as Palmer's Goal Drought Continues

London: Chelsea ended a three-match losing streak with a dominant 4-0 victory over last-place Southampton in the Premier League on Tuesday. Despite a frustrating evening for Cole Palmer, his teammates stepped up, answering manager Enzo Maresca’s call for shared responsibility in attack.

Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella found the net, securing a much-needed win. Southampton, struggling at the bottom with just nine points from 27 games, looks destined for relegation.

Palmer, Chelsea’s top scorer this season with 14 league goals, missed several clear-cut chances, including a one-on-one with Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. His goalless streak now extends to seven games, but Maresca remains supportive. “He has to continue working, be happy, and keep going. The goals will come,” the coach said. Chelsea climbed to fourth place, strengthening its push for Champions League qualification.

Brighton edged Bournemouth 2-1, with Danny Welbeck scoring a late winner just three minutes after coming off the bench. Joao Pedro’s early penalty was canceled out by Justin Kluivert before Welbeck secured Brighton’s fourth straight win in all competitions.

Crystal Palace cruised past Aston Villa 4-1, with Ismaila Sarr netting twice in front of England coach Thomas Tuchel. Meanwhile, Fulham defeated Wolverhampton 2-1, with Rodrigo Muniz scoring the decisive goal.
