Los Angeles: Actor Damson Idris has spoken warmly about his close working relationship with Brad Pitt while filming the upcoming sports drama F1 – The Movie, calling it a “seamless dynamic.”
The movie, set to release on June 27, sees Idris and Pitt portraying race car drivers, and their off-screen friendship mirrors their on-screen chemistry.
Speaking to People magazine, Idris revealed that the two often shared laughs and deep conversations between takes. According to Idris, Pitt would recount personal moments, including meeting legends like Prince and Sidney Poitier.
“As soon as they’d yell, ‘Cut,’ we both sat at our seats and giggled,” Idris recalled. “He’d tell me stories of when he first met Prince and Sidney Poitier. And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this is just too iconic, you’re a walking monument.’”
Idris praised the Oscar-winning actor for his humility and generosity, noting how Pitt made a conscious effort to ensure their characters felt equal. “I always say he’s the most humble person and such a brilliant actor, and he wants you to win,” said Idris. “And he did that for me the entire movie.”
The film also features performances from Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, and Tobias Menzies. Produced in collaboration with Formula 1, it blends high-speed action with human drama, bringing a fresh narrative to the world of motorsports.
Idris expressed deep gratitude for the experience, saying he feels “incredibly indebted” to Pitt and is excited for audiences to witness the bond they built on screen.
