Deesa: The fireworks warehouse in close proximity to Deesa in Gujarat has caused an explosion taking the lives of 21 people.
The police claimed the explosion which occurred at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, to be hatched out by aluminum powder, a material used to make firecrackers.
The explosion wrecked the human body parts scattered about 200-300 meters apart, with some workers trapped under rubble of concrete slabs. The forensic science laboratory (FSL) has said yellow dextrin powder is among the ingredients that are given as powder for making firecrackers.
The explosion at the warehouse-is situated in the industrialized neighborhood within Deesa, which is about 30 kilometers from the district headquarters of Banaskantha district. The warehouse was licensed formerly for storage of firecrackers but was in operation without a valid license since the expiry in December 2017. It is presumed by police investigators that the manufactured firecrackers were made illegally right at the site!
In the case, they were furnished with proof of the owners, the judge has granted police orders to avow culpable homicide not amounting to murder and the relevant section of the Explosive Substances Act. The police are continuing investigations as to whether firecrackers had indeed been made at the location.
The cops are currently investigating connections of the accused's alleged involvement in other criminal activities, like an alleged cricket betting racket, with one of the arrested suspects.
Regarding financial transactions and communication records of the accused, arresting one of the most powerful catalysts, the SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been formed, in addition to extra teams that are following the case step by step. This tragic incident has driven concerns with regard to the safety and operational legitimacy of such warehouses.
