Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Orders Action After Spotting Man Feeding Cow on Busy Road
New Delhi, April 13:
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed local authorities to take immediate action against the issue of stray cattle on city roads after witnessing a man feeding a cow with roti in the middle of a busy thoroughfare, causing traffic congestion.
The incident occurred during her routine commute when her convoy was held up by the unusual roadside scene. Disturbed by the obstruction and potential safety hazards posed by such acts, Gupta emphasized the need for urgent measures to manage stray cattle and prevent similar disruptions in the future.

"The safety of citizens and the smooth flow of traffic must not be compromised," Gupta stated. "While compassion for animals is commendable, feeding them in the middle of traffic endangers lives and causes unnecessary chaos."
In response, the Chief Minister has instructed municipal agencies to intensify efforts in relocating stray cattle and take strict action against illegal dairies operating within the city. The initiative is part of her broader plan to enhance road safety and urban infrastructure across Delhi.
This move has sparked conversations about balancing civic responsibility with traditional practices, as feeding cows is a common ritual in Indian society. Authorities are now expected to designate safe zones for such activities to avoid disrupting public life.
