Delimitation Plan Hurts South India, Claims Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has criticized the entire delimitation process, contending, as it does, that such an act is a "limitation" for the southern states.

Reddy specified in Delhi that a conspiracy against the South was afoot through the guise of delimitation, which he believed would adversely affect this Indian region. He stressed that the South is not interested in any such limitation.

The utterances were made by the delegation of the DMK, led by Tamil Nadu minister TK Nehru, and had invited him to participate in a political meeting to be conducted in Chennai on March 22. This meeting has been convened on the directions of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin to discuss the potential repercussions of the delimitation process concerning the Southern States.

Mr. Revanth Reddy mentioned briefly that, at the principal level, the Congress Party had agreed to participate in the meeting, although he needed to consult the Congress High Command for that matter before committing his presence at the meeting.

He had pleaded a greater concern following that there must be a broader political agenda against South India with the obvious rejection of the BJP in the said region. "We are paying more taxes and we are contributing substantially to the development of the nation, yet we are being ignored," he pointed out. Reddy stated that the BJP's business failure in seizing power of the southern states, whether Kalamarakka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, or Karnataka, had caused a vendetta against the region.

He encouraged the initiative of Mr. Stalin seeking a bandh, commenting that this would be an opportunity for South India to address a matter on the broader South Indian agenda and make sure their voice gets heard in the whole national discourse.
