LONDON: Paris Saint-Germain took a important 1-0 lead over Arsenal in their Champions League semi final first leg on Tuesday, thanks to an early goal from Ousmane Dembele.
Dembele struck just four minutes in at the Emirates Stadium, finishing off a swift counter-attack to give PSG a vital advantage.
Despite Arsenal’s best efforts, including a disallowed goal early in the second half and a brilliant save from Gianluigi Donnarumma, PSG held their lead with a composed display.
Arsenal's frustration grew as they couldn’t capitalize on their chances, and PSG had a few close calls of their own, with Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos missing opportunities to extend the lead.
PSG, who eliminated Liverpool and Aston Villa earlier in the competition, will head into the second leg at Parc des Princes on May 7 as favorites to progress to the final.
However, Arsenal, despite their loss, are still alive in the tie and will be hoping to overturn the deficit at home.
