A new era of collaboration between India and Kuwait has begun with the elevation of their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership. The two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation during a high-level meeting in New Delhi, marking the milestone. The MoU seeks to improve cooperation in areas like intelligence exchange, joint exercises, and defense training.
Additionally, it establishes the foundation for enhanced defense commerce and the collaborative development of cutting-edge military technologies. This MoU is based on important points that both countries will regularly hold training exercises to improve readiness and interoperability, the agreement contains clauses pertaining to the exchange of cutting-edge military know-how, and the last point is based on India and Kuwait potential joint manufacturing ventures and defense exports.
In order to finalize a roadmap to strengthen strategic partnerships in political, commercial, investment, energy, defense, and security connections, Modi had bilateral meetings with Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the prime minister of Kuwait. The foundation of the long-standing connection between India and Kuwait is trade. With more than $12 billion in bilateral trade in 2023, Kuwait ranks as India's tenth-largest trading partner. It is anticipated that the new strategic partnership will strengthen economic relations even further, especially in areas like technology, energy, and defense.
