Dubai Cracks Down on Telemarketing Violations, Fining 159 Companies

Dubai: The Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade (DCCPFT) is enforcing new telemarketing regulations in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).

New anti-spoofing and anti-robodial telemarketing laws have been implemented to protect consumer rights and ensure fair business practices. As part of this initiative, 174 companies received verbal warnings, and 159 companies were fined AED50,000 each for violating the rules.

This regulatory initiative is aimed at reducing unwanted telemarketing calls, ensuring consumer privacy, and bolstering consumer trust. It also supports Dubai’s ambitious D33 Agenda, which aims to double the emirate’s economy by 2033 and enhance the overall business environment.

The new laws were adopted in August 2024 and are being enforced in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The actions related to these regulations have been logged as of February 25, 2025.

Under Cabinet Decisions No. 56 of 2024 (regulating telemarketing practices) and No. 57 (penalties for violations), companies are required to follow a strict set of guidelines. These rules include refraining from contacting consumers whose numbers are registered on the ‘Do Not Call’ list, making commercial calls only between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm, and informing consumers at the beginning of any recorded call. Companies that fail to comply face immediate verbal warnings or fines.
