DRC Rebels Agree to Ceasefire for Humanitarian Efforts

Kinshasa: The Congo River Alliance, a coalition of armed groups including the M23 rebels, has declared a ceasefire in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), effective from February 4.

In a statement, the alliance cited humanitarian concerns as the primary reason for halting hostilities. The announcement follows the group's recent capture of Goma, the largest city in eastern DRC. Additionally, the alliance reassured that it has no intention of advancing on Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province.
