CAIRO: Egypt has expressed its strong support for the signing of the Declaration of Principles between the governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda in Washington on Friday. The agreement aims to foster peace, stability, and economic development in eastern Congo.
In a statement released Saturday, Egypt hailed the agreement as a significant step towards rebuilding trust between the two nations and enhancing prospects for peace and regional stability in the Great Lakes region and across Africa.
Egypt also commended both countries for committing to resolving disputes through peaceful means, emphasizing that such efforts could pave the way for greater cooperation and shared development benefiting both sides.
In the statement, Egypt’s reaffirmed it's unwavering support for initiatives that promote peaceful conflict resolution in Africa, while respecting international law and the founding principles of the African Union. Egypt emphasized that such steps are crucial for bolstering security and stability both regionally and globally.
Moreover, Egypt highlighted its continued dedication to backing efforts aimed at peacefully resolving conflicts between Congo and Rwanda.
