DUBAI: The highly anticipated Emirates Super Saturday is set to take place on March 1 at Meydan Racecourse, bringing together top international horses competing for spots in the prestigious Dubai World Cup.
The event, scheduled five weeks ahead of the Dubai World Cup on April 5, features nine thrilling races, six of which offer guaranteed entry to the main event through an exclusive bonus scheme.
Ali Al-Ali, CEO and board member of Dubai Racing Club, highlighted the significance of the day, stating: “Emirates Super Saturday is one of our most popular and exciting days of racing, offering not only top-notch preparatory races but also a unique blend of sport, fashion, and entertainment that captivates both racing aficionados and lifestyle enthusiasts.”
The G2 Al-Maktoum Classic, boasting a $327,000 prize, stands as the highlight of the event, featuring top contenders such as Kabirkhan, trained by eight-time UAE Champion Doug Watson, Korean star Global Hit, and France’s Group 1 winner King Gold.
Other key races include the G2 Dubai City of Gold, a stepping stone to the G1 Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, and the G2 Singspiel Stakes, which grants automatic entry to the G1 Dubai Turf. Racing fans can look forward to match-ups featuring Godolphin’s multiple G1 winner Nations Pride and British-trained star Cairo.
Adding to the international competition, Japanese runners American Stage and T O Saint Denis are set to compete in the Group 3 Mahab Al-Shimaal and the G3 Burj Nahaar, respectively, with their sights on the G1 Golden Shaheen and the G2 Godolphin Mile.
