Emirati Publishers Take Emirati Children's Stories to the World

Dubai: The Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) has successfully wrapped up its participation in the 2025 Bologna Children’s Book Fair, held from 31 March to 3 April in Bologna, Italy.

This important event, bringing together literary and artistic figures from around the world, marked a significant step forward for Emirati publishing. The EPA’s participation underscored its mission to promote Emirati children's and young adult literature globally, providing a unique opportunity for local publishers to showcase their work to an international audience.

During the fair, the association’s pavilion featured a selection of prominent Emirati publishing houses specializing in children’s literature. Notable participants included Ajyal Publishing, renowned for its interactive and creative stories, and Kiwi Stories Publishing, which focuses on emotionally engaging narratives.

Additionally, two graduates of the Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund—Dalal Hussain Al Jaberi of Hzaya and Fatema Hussain AlHammadi of Sohub Publishing—represented innovative publishing models that celebrate cultural diversity and inclusivity for people of determination.

The event proved to be a key platform for the EPA to form new strategic partnerships and expand its members' reach. His Excellency Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of EPA, emphasized the importance of using this platform to forge international collaborations that support the sustainability of Emirati publishing.

By participating in the fair, the EPA aimed to boost the distribution networks of Emirati publishers and enhance the global visibility of their works, particularly those with humanitarian and educational themes.

Dr. Abdulla AlSharhan, Vice President of EPA, highlighted the fair's role in empowering Emirati publishers by providing access to global platforms and showcasing their creative capabilities. He noted that this participation aligns with the UAE’s vision of supporting the publishing sector as a key cultural and creative pillar. The event provided valuable insights into global trends and emerging opportunities in children's book publishing, allowing Emirati publishers to stay ahead of the curve.

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair continues to serve as an important platform for Emirati publishers to establish themselves in international markets. The fair facilitates strategic partnerships, connects industry professionals, and opens doors to new markets, helping Emirati content gain worldwide recognition. The EPA’s ongoing efforts at such events reflect the UAE’s commitment to promoting its rich cultural heritage and creative industries on the global stage.
