Rawalpindi: A local court in Rawalpindi has sentenced five individuals to death and life imprisonment under blasphemy and cybercrime laws.
According to reports, Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Tariq Ayub handed down the verdict, convicting the accused of blasphemy and other related offenses.
The convicted individuals—Muhammad Arsalan, Ali Abbas, Faisal Rehan, Zunair Sikandar, and Khurram Afzal—were found guilty under multiple sections of Pakistan’s Penal Code. They were sentenced to death under Section 295-C, life imprisonment under Section 295-B, and 10 years in prison along with a fine of PKR 100,000 under Section 295-A.
Additionally, they received a three-year jail term and a fine of PKR 100,000 under Section 298-A, while under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), they were sentenced to seven years in prison with an additional fine of PKR 100,000. The court's ruling highlights the stringent legal consequences of blasphemy-related offenses in Pakistan.
