Frattesi’s Late Strike Seals Inter’s 2-1 Win Over Bayern Munich

MUNICH: Davide Frattesi's late strike in the 88th minute secured Inter Milan a 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.

Bayern, struggling with numerous injuries, dominated early chances, with Michael Olize and Harry Kane both coming close to scoring.

However, Inter took the lead in the 38th minute when Marcus Thuram's back-heel assist set up Lautaro Martinez for a powerful finish.

Bayern responded late with Thomas Mueller, who scored a typical poacher's goal in the 85th minute, following a lapse in the Inter defense.

But Inter quickly retorted in the 88th minute, as Carlos Augusto's assist found Frattesi to net the decisive goal.

The victory gives Inter the advantage heading into the second leg, with Bayern suffering their first home defeat in the Champions League since 2021.

Inter, who reached the final in 2023, are aiming to make it to the semifinals once again.

Despite Bayern's injury crisis, including a depleted defense, they were unable to capitalize on their early pressure, leaving them with a narrow deficit going into the second leg.
