MAKKAH: Over 4.1 million worshippers and Umrah pilgrims gathered at the Grand Mosque in Makkah for the 29th night of Ramadan, a spiritually significant night marked by the Qur’an completion (Khatm Al-Qur’an) prayers.
Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah reported that 3.4 million worshippers attended Isha and Taraweeh prayers, while more than 646,600 performed Umrah.
Essential services supported the massive gathering, including mobility carts for 28,200 people, location guidance for 135,600 visitors, and the distribution of 42,000 bottles of Zamzam water and 702,000 iftar meals.
The Grand Mosque was filled with worshippers from early morning, occupying every corridor, courtyard, and level, including the Mataf area. Pilgrims performed their rituals in an atmosphere of reverence, seeking the blessings of Laylat Al-Qadr.
Saudi authorities ensure smooth operations, with the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque mobilizing resources to manage crowd flow, enhance cleanliness, and provide essential amenities.
Over 33,000 prayer carpets were laid, Zamzam distribution points were expanded, and door systems were optimized for efficient entry and exit, with designated areas for the elderly and disabled.
Emergency teams were also on standby to assist worshippers, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all.
