Gaza: The armed group Hamas has officially responded to Switzerland’s recent announcement to enforce a ban on Hamas and affiliated organizations starting May 15.
In a strongly worded statement, Hamas criticized the Swiss government’s decision, calling it a "dangerous bias" in favor of Israel and a betrayal of Switzerland's international legal and humanitarian responsibilities.
The group urged Switzerland to uphold its long-standing commitments to justice and neutrality, arguing that such a move only emboldens what it described as Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s violations of international law. Hamas emphasized that this legal action contradicts the values Switzerland is known for and called for an immediate reversal of what it terms an "unjust decision."
According to Hamas, Switzerland should instead take a principled stand in support of the Palestinian people’s struggle against occupation, rather than aligning itself with policies that suppress their cause. The statement reflects growing concern in Gaza that international legal frameworks are increasingly being used to isolate Palestinian resistance, rather than address the root causes of the conflict.
