Jeddah:The Haramain High-Speed Railway is set to operate over 3,400 trips during Ramadan, offering 1.6 million seats to meet the growing demand from Umrah pilgrims and visitors. The service has played a key role in reducing road congestion and enhancing travel between Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah.
Ranked among the world's fastest electric trains, the Haramain High-Speed Railway operates at 300 km/h and uses advanced signaling systems. Since its launch in 2018, it has provided safe and efficient transportation for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), in collaboration with the operating company, has implemented a comprehensive plan for the Ramadan season, allowing travel between Makkah and Madinah in just two hours and 20 minutes.
The railway line features five stations, including the King Abdulaziz Airport station, the world's largest airport-linked railway station, spanning 105,000 square meters with six platforms, easing traffic around the airport.
The Haramain service operates 35 electric trains, each with 417 seats across 13 cars, including business and economy class cabins, a cafeteria, and amenities like entertainment screens and facilities for passengers with special needs.
Haramain train stations offer a range of services, such as police and fire stations, a health center, a mosque, retail outlets, restaurants, a business lounge, parking, car rentals, public transport options, luggage assistance, and more, ensuring a smooth and comfortable travel experience.
