Islamabad: Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Balochistan and South Punjab, warning of scorching temperatures from April 13 to 18.
According to the alert, most parts of the country will experience intense heat during this period. The temperature in Sindh, Balochistan, and South Punjab is expected to be 7°C above normal, while Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other northern areas could see a rise of up to 6°C above average.
Director of the Meteorological Department in Islamabad, Zaheer Babar, stated that temperatures in Karachi and along the coastal belt are expected to remain above normal, with a significant increase expected in plain regions.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has predicted that nights will also remain warm, with the possibility of dusty winds in the region.
The PDMA added that instructions have been issued to local administrations to stay prepared. The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to take precautionary measures and increase their water intake during this heatwave.
