Historic Mosque Demolition Attempt: Muslims Under Modi's Wrath in India

Recently, the number of Muslims martyred during protests against the survey of the Mughal-era Shahi Jamia Mosque in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, has risen to six. Residents of Sambhal report that the martyrs were protesting against the disrespect shown towards the mosque by the Indian police.

Police Action and Casualties. To disperse the Muslim protesters, the police initially resorted to tear gas shelling and subsequently opened fire, resulting in the martyrdom of three Muslims and injuries to over a dozen others. Among the injured, three succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment. Additionally, one member of the legislative assembly and 25 other Muslims were taken into custody. The Indian police have filed cases against over 1,000 individuals, including women and children, and are reportedly violating the sanctity of homes in their pursuit of arrests. Political Reactions. The leader of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, has held the BJP responsible for the incident, stating that the central government deliberately incited violence. Yadav further emphasized that while the geopolitical landscape of the region has changed, India continues to suffer from politics rooted in hatred against Muslims.
